Auf der 31st Annual Conference der Production and Operations Management Society vom 30. April – 5. Mai 2021 hielt Christoph Pott einen Vortrag in der Reihe „Sport Operations Management“ zum Thema “Sport Logistics and the Equipping of Athletes“.
Pott sprach über die Untersuchung eines gänzlich neuen Forschungsfeldes, das aus der Zusammenführung zweier im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes „bewegender“ Fachbereiche entsteht: Sport und Logistik. Logistik findet überall dort statt, wo Dinge bewegt werden. Sport findet überall dort statt, wo der Mensch körperliche Aktivitäten im Rahmen von Spiel und Wettkampf erbringt. Wird für die Ausübung des Sports Ausrüstung benötigt – etwa Laufschuhe, Tennisschläger oder Bob – muss diese transportiert werden. Logistik und Sport treffen aufeinander. Die Forschung zur Sportlogistik erfolgt in Kooperation mit dem Institut für Sportökonomie und Sportmanagement der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln.
At the 31st Annual Conference of the Production and Operations Management Society from April 30 – May 5, 2021, Christoph Pott gave a presentation in the „Sport Operations Management“ session on „Sport Logistics and the Equipping of Athletes“. Pott spoke about the investigation of an entirely new field of research that is emerging from the merging of two literally „moving“ disciplines: sport and logistics. Logistics takes place wherever things are moved. Sport takes place wherever people perform physical activities in the context of play and competition. If equipment is needed to practice sport – e.g. running shoes, tennis rackets or bobsleds – it has to be transported. Logistics and sports meet. Research on sports logistics is conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Sports Economics and Sports Management at the German Sport University Cologne.
